If you’re looking for comfort food but also have a hankering for Tex-Mex flavors, take a look at this Frito pie recipe. This dish might be (and is!) unknown in some 99 percent of Mexico, but the Texans have taken it to heart and you can find this dish all over the Lone Star State!
Picture Fritos, those crunchy chips, along with a spicy, meaty chili con carne, and you get the idea of this creative dish. The most basic way of making it is to split open a bag of Fritos and ladle chili on top.
But you can also serve this in bowls or make a casserole out of it, if you want a fancier presentation. Along with the ground beef and Frito chips you need onion, garlic, beans, tomatoes, and some seasonings. Sour cream and shredded cheese are ideal to garnish the finished Frito pie recipe.
